Job Description

Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)

St Francis C of E Primary School

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Class Teacher to join our team. This role is offered on a fixed-term basis as maternity cover and is expected to continue until January 2028, subject to the return of the postholder.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role helping children in Year 1 flourish, within a school community committed to excellence. The successful candidate will be passionate about working with children and will have the communication skills, patience and commitment needed to inspire confidence, nurture potential and support every child to be their very best.

St Francis is a vibrant, nurturing community, and we are deeply proud of all that we achieve together. Our vision — every person matters, every person helps, every person succeeds — guides all that we do, helping each of us to live “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). Even as a large school, we remain committed to creating a warm, family-centred environment where children feel secure, supported, and able to flourish.

As a Church school, our core Christian values of Courage, Peace, Thankfulness, Trust, Friendship and Hope are woven through daily life. Alongside these, our positive behaviour culture runs as a golden thread throughout school. We teach and celebrate being ready, respectful and safe, and we recognise all who make positive choices. Relationships sit at the heart of everything we do — shaping how we learn, how we grow, and how we care for one another. These values work hand-in-hand with the Trust’s philosophy of work hard, be honest & help others, ensuring our children develop strong character as well as strong learning habits.

Kernow Learning is a multi-academy trust of 21 primary schools in Cornwall. We believe that our Trust is at the precipice of something great. Through a blend of collective strength and individual school autonomy, our schools work together to extend their offer beyond expectations in their pursuit of excellence. Our Trust is not insular; we embrace collaboration, innovation and development. Our English Hub supports schools across Cornwall to secure children's early reading, whilst our Teaching School Hub, as a partner in One Cornwall, provides services to schools across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in relation to areas such as the Early Career Framework and National Professional Qualifications.

As part of Kernow Learning, you will join a Trust that is committed to Building Excellent Schools Together, where colleagues are empowered to grow, collaborate and make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families across Cornwall.

Benefits:

  • As well as offering great schools to work in, wonderful children to work with, and fantastic colleagues to work alongside, out Trust is committed to providing colleagues with other benefits that make your employment with Kernow Learning the best it can be. We offer:
