GENERAL PURPOSE
Operate a tractor-trailer and transport products from location to location (plant, branch). May drop deliver to large accounts; non-driver controlled order; deliver on a tractor trailer. Required to either transport product across state lines, or if delivering intrastate, to haul some products that originate in other states.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
· Verify shipment accuracy and ensure saleable condition of product
· Transact proper documentation in computerized hand-held device or paper
· Load/unload trucks
· Resolve discrepancies and communicate issues to supervisor
· Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns. Report any moving violations to management immediately
· Inspect equipment according to company and DOT regulations (tractor, trailer, pallet jack, load bars, lift gates)
· Complete all daily DOT and customer paperwork including delivery tickets, pre and post trip inspections, driver logs, and vehicle service reports
· Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
· Stock and/or rotate product in warehouse where required
· Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
· Use company supported applications or systems properly
· Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
· Must meet minimum age requirements
· Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
· Must meet all DOT requirements
· Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL with Air Brake endorsement; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
· Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
· Able to communicate effectively
· Able to be proactive in seeking solutions and taking appropriate steps to solve problems
· Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
· Able to be punctual, follow directions, and meet deadlines
· Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures

· Must be able to read, write and speak English
