Job Description

The primary role of CDL Driver is to safely and compliantly operate various heavy equipment with a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds, including but not limited to roll-off trucks, tractor-trailers, liquid vacs, turbo vacs, box trucks, and rack trucks with trailers. CDL Drivers may also be required to perform driving and non-driving duties like responding to environmental spills, manual labor, site cleanup, and hazardous waste transportation. Additional responsibilities can involve loading and unloading equipment, assisting hazmat technicians with pressure washers, confined space entry, shoveling/digging, and vacuuming material.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects electronically through Geotab & Whip Around, as well as communicate issues with Dispatch & Supervisor

Follow all laws regarding traffic rules, speed limits, and safe driving practices when transporting hazardous materials/waste

Regularly participate in communication meetings with the team to help drive growth and create a collaborative culture

Performing DOT “pre” and “post” trip vehicle inspection reports

Assist in onboarding and training sessions for new drivers to ensure familiarity with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.

Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements

Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines, policies and site-specific safety plans when performing cleanup activities; and donning protective gear to assist in the setup, tear down, & decontamination of equipment

Maintain supplies & equipment by properly stocking & restocking in a neat & orderly fashion

Responsible for loading and unloading Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), supplies, vacuum hoses, camlock fittings, box liners, drums, totes, etc. as instructed in JRS or work order

Complete required daily timesheet, JHAs, labels, manifests, & land disposal restrictions as required

Perform daily maintenance of vehicles (refueling, cleaning, etc.)

Use small hand tools, squeegees, shovels, and brooms as well as wipe absorbent boom and pads to contain and remediate impacted soils and waters

Loading and unloading box trucks with forklifts and pallet jacks

Interacting with customers in a professional manner

Safely handle, package, & transport hazardous materials/waste. This includes loading, unloading, & ensuring all piece/drum counts match all associated shipping documents

Must be prepared to work flexible or extended hours in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, & humidity

Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. May require out-of-town travel. Length of travel will be dependent on service center and on-going projects

Physically able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary and lift > 50lbs routinely

Perform other, related duties as assigned by management

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work in potentially adverse conditions, i.e. rain and mud, rocky soils, snow and ice, extreme temperatures

Ability to drive-in all-weather conditions

Occasional off pavement driving especially with tankers and roll off trucks.

Apply triple and single rail tire chains when necessary

Hook/unhook hoses, open and close valves. Run and inspect wench systems.
