Process Engineering Technician Supervisor

The Process Engineering Technician Supervisor is responsible for planning and directing the activities of process technicians in support of manufacturing efforts. The Process Engineering Technician Supervisor will have direct supervision and development of process technician responsibilities for on shift technicians as well as standard cable plant engineering responsibilities.

  • Essential position requirements
  • Lead and enforce the culture of safety, health and environment in the work team and daily tasks.
  • Recruit, develop, and guide resources to improve total performance and productivity within the Shift Process Technician team.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Manage the process technician team schedule to ensure consistent manufacturing support across all shifts.
  • Ensure shift technicians receive training to increase the core strength of the team.
  • Drive and promote a culture of Continuous Improvement and problem solving within the process technician team (Root Cause Analysis, RTFT, 5 Why’s, 6S, etc.).
  • Provide structure, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for the Shift Process Technician team.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes on a daily basis to identify trends and out-of-control situations and provide solutions according to urgency and importance when needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data for process control and capability improvement as needed
  • Lead material development & investigate alternative quality and cost-effective materials.
  • Lead complex problem-solving initiatives to tackle quick resolution of issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement techniques including: Design of Experiments, Cycle Time improvement, Just-in-Time, Lean Six Sigma, 6S, problem solving, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.
  • Conduct process and product quality audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems.
  • Implement process changes or new development product trials as directed by R&D.
  • Responsible for reviewing equipment/process performance and initiating projects to upgrade/streamline processes or procedures.
  • Responsible for participating with Engineering Design/Process Units/customers to assure that efficient production processes/actions are taken to meet customer demands/requirements and Division quality standards.
  • Responsible for providing and directing timely transfers of new processes, methods, and techniques to assigned production lines to ensure timely and effective startup of new/revised products and/or processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of leadership and management of engineering resources
  • Excellent team and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain focus, for both the individual and the team, in a rapidly changing manufacturing environment
  • Analytical technical problem solver
  • Motivated team leader with a professional and positive attitude
  • Results oriented and careful about documentation of work
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Willing to work overtime and flexible hours, including holidays to support operational needs
  • Results driven individual who has demonstrated ability creating and working in a high-performance manufacturing environment
  • Ability to motivate, communicate with, and inspire team members
  • Coordination with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and Logistics to support plant goals
  • Prior experience with extrusion would be beneficial
  • Prefer, but not required, a bachelor’s degree in engineering

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • 70% of time will be spent walking and standing on concrete production floor, along with occasional use of stairs.

Regular interaction with all direct reports across 4 rotating 12
