We’re currently seeking a Claims Specialist to join our Headquarters team!

The Claims Specialist supports the organization’s risk management strategy by overseeing general liability claims arising from the company’s operations, facilities, employees, and auto physical damage incidents involving the company’s fleet. This role manages claims and incidents from initial notice through resolution in coordination with third-party administrators (TPAs), a third-party accident management partner, defense counsel, and internal stakeholders, ensuring they are handled efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with the company’s risk appetite, financial objectives, and loss prevention goals.

What You Will Do

Corporate Claims Oversight

  • Act as the internal owner of liability claims, including bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury matters.
  • Oversee claims administered by TPAs, including review of claim strategies, reserves, settlements, litigation plans, and compliance with service, quality, and cost expectations.
  • Evaluate liability, damages, coverage, and contractual risk transfer exposures, and recommend resolution strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Identify and escalate high-exposure, catastrophic, reputational risk, fraud, subrogation, and recovery matters to Risk Management leadership as appropriate.
  • Support insurance recovery efforts and assist with the administration of workers' compensation and first-party property claims.

Vendor Litigation & Auto Incident Management

  • Coordinate with in-house and defense counsel to manage litigated claims, including litigation strategy, settlement evaluations, discovery activities, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Oversee external service providers, including TPAs, investigators, experts, and accident management partners, to ensure quality, responsiveness, and cost-effective claim resolution.
  • Manage auto physical damage incident activity, including repair estimates, total loss evaluations, documentation, repair cycle times, and vehicle downtime.
  • Identify and escalate complex incidents involving significant exposure, liability concerns, or subrogation opportunities.

Financial & Regulatory Stewardship

  • Monitor claim reserves, large-loss development, and the financial impact of self-insured retentions and deductibles.
  • Support budgeting, actuarial reviews, audits, insurer reporting, and other financial oversight activities.
  • Ensure claim administration complies with applicable regulations, corporate policies, and governance standards.

Internal Collaboration Advisory & Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders regarding claim trends, loss drivers, emerging risks, and risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Partner with Safety, Operations, Facilities, HR, and Legal to support investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and evidence preservation.
  • Provide guidance on incident reporting, claim management best practices, and communication protocols.
  • Support loss prevention, enterprise risk management (ERM), benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives through analysis of claim and operational trends.

How You Will Shine:

Education

  • Associate degree in risk management, business administration finance, insurance or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 3–6 years of experience in claims handing or oversight, preferably in a corporate, self-insured, or captive environment.
  • Experience working with TPAs, defense counsel, and commercial insurance carriers 2–5 years of workers’ compensation claims handling experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of general liability and commercial auto exposures, tort principles, and claims best practices.
  • Familiarity with contractual risk transfer and insurance program structures.
  • Ability to balance claim resolution, cost control, and reputational considerations.
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and standard office and reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret financial data, reserves, and large-loss reporting.
  • Ethical, professional, and discreet in handling sensitive matters.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Business-oriented judgment with strong risk awareness.
  • Collaborative and consultative approach to internal partnerships.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
