The Salvage Advisor is responsible for managing the end-to-end salvage process on motor and/or non-motor claims. This includes identifying, evaluating, and disposing of salvage assets to maximize recovery value while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and service level agreements.
Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements
• Grade 12/Standard 10/NQF 4
• BCom Degree (Optional)
• Valid Driver’s License
Minimum Experience
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience motor salvage and in claims,
• Strong understanding of insurance claims processes and salvage principles.
• Experience working with salvage vendors and auction platforms is advantageous.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
• Manage the salvage process for damaged assets arising from insurance claims.
• Assess salvage potential and determine the most appropriate disposal method (e.g., auction, tender, direct sale).
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (claims handlers, assessors) and external service providers (salvage vendors, auction houses).
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of salvage recoveries in the claims system.
• Track and report on salvage performance metrics, including recovery rates and turnaround times.
• Negotiate with buyers and service providers to maximize financial recovery.
• Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements related to salvage disposal.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiencies within the salvage function.
• Resolve any disputes or issues relating to salvage transactions.
• Provide regular reporting and insights to management on salvage trends and outcomes.
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills

• Accuracy and completeness of salvage records

• Compliance with internal policies and external regulations
• Experience within short-term insurance (motor claims preferred)
• Knowledge of salvage platforms and auction systems
