Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Release of Information (ROI) Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing medical record requests accurately and efficiently while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, experience working with medical records, and the ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process release of information (ROI) requests in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
  • Verify authorizations and ensure all requests comply with HIPAA regulations and company policies.
  • Protect patient confidentiality by ensuring medical records are released only to authorized individuals.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, attorneys, insurance companies, and other requestors regarding record requests.
  • Manage incoming phone calls, faxes, emails, and work queues related to medical record requests.
  • Scan, fax, copy, and distribute documents as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of requests and completed releases.
  • Meet established productivity, quality, and service standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and healthcare staff to resolve issues and ensure timely request fulfillment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical records department, health information management, or a similar healthcare setting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience operating office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Escondido, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
