Responsibilities

Responsible for managing 3 to 6 Senior Claims Specialists across multiple state jurisdictions.

  • Actively Manages assigned Claims Specialists workloads and performance.
  • Evaluates team performance, identifies and resolves problems, develops corrective action plans and defines team and individual goals.
  • Provide the office with the guidance and training on functional claims problems.
  • Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act and Rules and Regulations in jurisdictions assigned.
  • Consult with attorneys, assist in negotiation of settlement, mediations and trials (attend trials as necessary).
  • Keep office abreast of all legal changes in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Ensure regulatory issues within the assigned region are within compliance.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions to the insureds including insured visits and claim reviews.
  • Identify unfavorable trends from employers and notify appropriate departments.
  • Ensure team’s work is in accordance with guidelines established.

Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree

Qualifications: Include necessary skills/experience and core competencies required

  • Five (5) years’ experience within workers compensation insurance.
  • Preferred three (3) or more years of claims supervisory experience.
  • Possess and maintain a professional adjusting license in jurisdictions assigned.
  • Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communications.
  • Possesses analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibit highly defined leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of self-motivation and require minimal management direction.
  • Interdepartmental collaboration and innovation with underwriting, loss control, business development and marketing
