Job Description

Claims Administration Intern

The Claims Administration Intern is responsible for assisting customers with cargo claims submissions and for supporting claims adjusters to adjudicate claims and prepare settlements. With proper telephone and email etiquette, they will clearly speak or write with customers, moving company agencies, drivers, repair firms and client representatives to investigate and resolve issues. The Intern will research, prepare, and store documentation and reports, requiring a keen sense of organization and effective time management skills. This position is essential for the team’s success in delivering fair and timely settlements to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries (phone calls, email), set appointments, and direct calls appropriately
• Verify required information is obtained from customer, all accountable parties are identified
• Research contract paperwork, agreements, assessments, and customer information
• Trace missing items
• Ensure case communications and paperwork are systematically catalogued and filed
• Record accurate diary notes related to customer or supplier conversations, enter agency-settled claim information into system
• Prepare statistical and settlement reports and spreadsheets
• Work with Finance team on billing and payables matters

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 to 3 years’ experience in a customer service role within a corporate office setting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven experience with customer relations, customer service and problem-solving situations
• Process and results oriented; excellent organization skills
• Able to accurately interpret and apply policies
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word and Excel)
• Bilingual (English/French) language skills an asset

Education and Certification Requirements

• College diploma or enrolment in post-secondary studies preferred, or combination of completed high school education and tangible post-academic work experience

Additional Notes

• Position is located at Sirva’s Edmonton, AB office, located in west Edmonton. Hybrid (work-at-office with work-from-home) arrangement available.
• Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance granted by CIISD/PSPC is required; the security clearance application will be facilitated via Sirva’s Company Security Officer (CSO)

• Position Title: Claims Intern
• Salary Range: $20CAD/hr
• Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package that includes choice of two Medical plans and two dental plans; Retirement plan, RRSP employer match (after 1 year), Life & Disability Insurance, and more. Benefits are based on employment status and may not be available for temporary or part-time employees

Salary ranges may vary based on location, market conditions, and other factors such as experience and qualifications. The final compensation will be determined during the hiring process based on these considerations.
