Job Description

About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As a  Cover Assessor you are responsible for assessing claims to make cover decisions in accordance with relevant legislation and medical information. You will be gathering information from a wide variety of sources, contacting employers, providers, medical specialists, and clients to be able to make sound decisions on cover. There are multiple areas of Cover that you can learn:

  • General Cover
  • Work Related Gradual Process
  • Treatment Injury
  • Mental Injury
  • Hearing Loss
  • Accidental Death

 As a  Treatment & Support Assessor you are responsible for assessing requests for treatments and/or supports on claims. There are a range of work types in this team, and your day could include reviewing medical information, relevant legislation, and clinical guidance to provide our clients with an outcome to claims for treatments and/or supports in the following areas:

  • Surgery
  • Dental
  • Permanent Injury
  • Additional Treatment

For both roles, there may be times where you will need to decline claims that do not meet our legislation and communicate these outcomes to our clients. We will train you on how to handle these situations and our leaders will support you where possible, but it is important that you are decisive and comfortable having conversations of this nature.

About you | Mōu

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to meet deadlines, and manage a high volume of work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will be confident communicating complex decision outcomes to our clients in a simple meaningful way
  • Previous experience reviewing information and making complex decisions
  • Initiative, adaptability, curiosity, and sound judgement will put you in good stead for this role
  • Ability to operate effectively in a digital environment with a wide range of technology systems and tools
