Job Description

This position assists the company and Insurance Department in evaluating and proposing timely resolutions to general insurance claims such as General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto Liability and USL&H for the CSX Captive. Responsible for overseeing and managing third Party Administrator (TPA) on all claim matters. In addition, this position will be required to work with Risk Management and Legal on complicated and/or litigated matters. Assists Insurance department with managing CSX captive and various insurance renewals

• Interact and assist with all CSX Subsidiaries to ensure prompt incident reporting
• Refine and update CSX Intermodal Terminals incident reporting process
• Oversee 400-600 claims per year
• Oversee TPA adjusters to ensure timely resolution of claims.
• Point person for granting TPA authority for reserving, settlements and information needed from CSX to adjudicate the claim
• Assist insurance department with underwriting submissions for various insurance renewals
• Participate and present findings during internal claims authority meetings with legal and risk management
• Document, record, maintain, and submit all relevant OSHA documents for all relevant CSX subsidiaries
• Record, maintain and submit all relevant federal USL&H reporting.
• Maintain Claim Best Practices for TPA and CSX
• Direct and coordinate claim activities for in-house and external attorneys.
• Attend claim mediations as necessary
• Visit field locations occasionally to complete claim investigations or communicate claim trends
• Participate in conference calls with the Safety Department and CSX Subsidiaries as the main resource for information about the claims
• Identify safety issues in the claims and assist Safety Department and Subsidiaries in resolving
• Communicate regularly with all internal stakeholders such as accounting and finance regarding high impact claims
• Assist insurance department with actuarial process, being resource for claims trends and activities as well as assisting with gathering information.
• Assist Insurance department with managing other claim matters

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 2-5 years as licensed claims adjuster for liability or workers compensation claims or
• Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree, 1-3 years’ experience in transportation/rail and the ability to attain an adjuster’s license, or risk management certification (such as ARM, CRM)

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of Risk Management Information Systems
• Knowledge of Claim Adjudication process for liability or workers compensation claims
• Knowledge of OSHA
• Microsoft Outlook skills
• Ability to communicate effectively on all aspects of railroad/transportation operations
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities

This role offers an annual salary range based on experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary we provide an annual bonus opportunity.
