Under direct supervision and within stated authority, reviews and processes new business, renewals, and endorsements in accordance with company underwriting guidelines. Handles routine requests from agents and internal customers to support the underwriting team with less complex inquiries and activities. Assist with weekly and monthly reporting, along with other administrative duties as needed. Candidate will be hired at the appropriate level based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides timely, courteous and efficient service regarding underwriting and related matters to agents and policyholders on routine matters.

  • Handles more routine Underwriting new business rating.

  • Within authority processes endorsements according to procedures, forwarding exceptions to an Underwriter for approval or additional processing.

  • Reviews renewal policies for changes in risk according to established procedures, referring exceptions to an Underwriter for approval or additional processing.

  • Requests additional or missing information on applications or endorsements from agents within established guidelines.

  • Prepares renewals for processing: cross-references supporting lines of business, gathering/reviewing loss experience, running building valuations and more.

  • Orders loss control surveys when warranted or requested by Underwriting.

  • Monitors various weekly and monthly reporting including but not limited to renewals, loss control reporting, and more.

  • Performs other related work on assigned special projects as required or requested.

  • Support all aspects of Underwriting workflow & processes through organization, documentation, and more.

Key Requirements:

  • Prior experience in personal and/or commercial insurance preferred but not required;

  • Sound time management and detail oriented;

  • Good customer service, communication and collaborative skills;

  • The candidate will be hired at the right level based on skills/experience;

  • Familiar with the items below is a plus:

    • 360 Value (Verisk)

    • Prometrix (Verisk)

    • NCCI/WCRIBMA

    • Choicepoint/MA RMV

    • US DOT/FMCSA

Our current reasonable and good faith estimate of the annual salary wage range for this position is approximately $50,000 ($26.53 an hour) - $58,000 ($30.77 an hour) CL Underwriting Tech and $58,000 ($30.77 an hour) - $65,000 ($34.49 an hour) CL Underwriting Tech Sr. based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, educational background and certifications, performance and qualifications, market demand for the role and other organizational needs.
