We’re looking for a Civil/Structural Construction Specialist III (Specialist Mining Inspector) to join our Singapore team.

As a Civil/Structural Construction Specialist III (Specialist Mining Inspector), you will be responsible for inspecting and supervising all aspects of temporary and permanent works for the mining works including trenchless construction methods in N105. The SMI will be required to carry out the supervision work in accordance to the Building Control Act and the Authority's requirements. He has to ensure that the construction is carried out in accordance with all relevant standards, Contract specifications, approved method statements, safety requirements and to the agreed programme.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience in supervising box tunnels that are in close proximity to existing bored tunnels and MRT station, trenchless construction methods such as micro-tunnelling, front jacking, simple faceless tunnelling, mining methods or box jacking methods, etc., and/or of similar level of complexity in the Civil Contract.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Civil/Structural Construction Specialist III (Specialist Mining Inspector) to join our team in Singapore.

The Scope of Services shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • To provide daily inspection and close standing supervision for all mining construction works.
  • To conduct daily safety inspection for the mining construction works.
  • To inspect and supervise all modification, additional and rectification works.
  • To check and monitor the Contractor's daily checklist/log/records for the excavation and construction activities.
  • To conduct daily check on the Contractor's adequacy of equipment and manpower for the execution of the excavation and other related works for the temporary and permanent works.
  • To conduct daily check on the Contractor's adequacy of material resources for the mining construction works and all aspects of the works.
  • To report to the SME daily on the progress and details of the mining construction works.
  • To highlight to the SME any deviation of ground encountered from expected profile, and to provide alerts on change in physical/visual condition of tunnel.

In addition to include those mentioned below:

  • Ensure compliance to all health and safety policies
  • Ensure that Contractor and their subcontractors comply with LTA’s PPE requirements and safety checklists are followed
  • Report to SRE/RE of any incident including near-misses
  • Supervise all construction activities and ensure compliance to all plans/drawings, method of statements / Risk Assessment and specifications
  • Report any non-compliance to RE and QPS
  • Reject poor quality and inform RE to raise non-conformance notice
  • Assist RE to manage and maintain records of field changes
  • Assist RE to monitor adherence to construction schedule
  • Prepare daily/shift progress reports and any other reports, as per LTA's requirements
  • Verify contractor’s daily manpower and resource log
  • Report to RE of daily site activities and progress
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings, PGIs, site construction workshops and any other meetings as requested by RE
  • To assist RE in maintaining all documents and to update the site changes
  • Immediately inform LTA on issuing stop work for any non-compliance on safety and quality related matters

What you’ll have

  • The Specialist Mining Inspector (SMI) shall have minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in supervising box tunnels that are in close proximity to existing bored tunnels and MRT station, trenchless construction methods such as micro-tunnelling, front jacking, simple faceless tunnelling, mining methods or box jacking methods, etc., and/or of similar level of complexity in the Civil Contract.
  • Experience in the following areas will be additional advantage:
    • Supervision of installation of monitoring instruments, collation of monitoring data and use of software for presentation of monitoring data for analysis and interpretation.
    • Supervision of pipe roofing using micro tunnelling or underground mining.
    • Concrete technology, inspection, quality control and quality assurance procedures related to the production of high quality precast concrete products.
  • The SMI shall have a Diploma in the civil / structural discipline or National Certificate in Construction Supervision (NCCS) or equivalent and shall be accredited by JAC of IES/ACES as QSS.
