Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self motivated Civil Work & Trackwork Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of railway infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and constructability of various civil and structural components within our complex rail systems. The position is based in Naples, Italy.

Accountabilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations for railway infrastructure elements such as bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, foundations, and station structures, adhering to relevant codes and standards (e.g., AREMA, AASHTO, AISC, ACI).
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports for civil and structural components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (e.g., track, signaling, power) to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall rail system projects.
  • Conduct site investigations, surveys, and inspections to assess existing conditions, evaluate constructability, and monitor progress during the construction phase.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to civil and structural aspects of projects, proposing innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules for civil and structural engineering scopes of work.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams, addressing field issues and ensuring adherence to design intent.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, new technologies, and relevant regulations in civil, construction, and structural engineering.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, effectively communicating technical information and project progress.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil, construction, or structural engineering, with a focus on transportation infrastructure, preferably rail.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D) and AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Strong understanding of relevant engineering codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., AREMA, AASHTO, IBC).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex structural calculations and develop detailed engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Education/Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.

  • English proficiency.
  • Italian proficiency.

Alla posizione si applica il vigente CCNL per l’industria metalmeccanica privata e l’installazione di impianti, con inquadramento nel livello B2, ai sensi della relativa disciplina di classificazione del personale. Retribuzione annua lorda compresa tra 36.000€ e 46.000€
