Our projects vary in size ranging from small commercial developments to municipal, government, community, and private sector developments and facilities. Our multidisciplinary northern office is looking for an experienced Civil Technologist / Technician to round out our growing practice in Northern Canada.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performs civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs primarily AutoCAD Civil3D including underground utilities (water/sewer conveyance using pipe networks), roadways (alignments using corridors), and site developments (using surface and grading commands).
  • Perform significant field work/review services related to construction administration and surveying related activities (up to 90% field work during peak seasons), including the supervision of junior field staff when required.
  • Physical ability to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain with the ability to lift/carry heavy equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the completion of the project under the direction of a project coordinator or project manager.
  • Performs calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software.
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity and size
  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
  • Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
  • Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by project managers or supervisor.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Understanding of concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material.
  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
  • Experience and a willingness to undertake construction reviews is also required.
  • Requires understanding and proficiency of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Basic understanding of topographic or construction layout surveying.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possession of a valid driver license.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology, or Civil Engineering Technology, or relevant equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
