Job Location: Raleigh, NC
Position Type: Full TimeUtili-Serve is seeking a Civil Substation Technician to support the safe and efficient construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical substations. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, dependable service to our customers by performing both energized and de-energized work under varying levels of supervision. Candidates must have a strong understanding of substation construction practices, equipment maintenance, and field operations, along with the ability to interpret prints and complete field reports accurately.
Responsibilities:
- Construct, maintain, and operate substation equipment and facilities.
- Follow all safety procedures and comply with legal and company regulations.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Maintain accurate field inspection reports and project documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members on day-to-day tasks.
- Provide input and support for training junior staff as needed.
- Represent the company professionally while working in the field.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in the electric utility or construction field preferred
- Understanding of electrical safety practices and high-voltage systems.
- Knowledge of equipment and switching procedures in substations.
- Familiarity with electrical theory and basic circuit configurations.
- Ability to operate tools, PPE, and heavy equipment used in substation work.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and replacing electrical components.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A preferred.
