Job Description

CIVIL MARINE / SENIOR ENGINEER (MHKIE) — Hong Kong

Confidential Client | Multiple Senior Appointments | Permanent

REF: 3CRGH-PE-1026 | Strictly confidential — client identity disclosed to shortlisted candidates only

About 3cRGH

3cRGH is a specialist construction & infrastructure recruitment firm covering APAC, and part of RGH Global — a UK-headquartered People Services and Workforce Optimisation group. We work the engineering market at desk level: we know the projects, the teams, and what a career move is actually worth. Every conversation with us is confidential, and your details are never sent anywhere without your explicit approval.

About our client

An international marine and port engineering contractor with a global delivery record spanning deep-water ports, container and bulk terminals, breakwaters, dredging and land reclamation across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. The group is now building its Hong Kong marine delivery capability and is appointing chartered engineers as the technical foundation of the local organisation — with current programmes underway and a substantial regional port pipeline behind them.

Why these seats exist

These are founding appointments for the Hong Kong delivery organisation. Engineers joining now will establish the local engineering standards, systems and delivery culture — and will carry chartered professional responsibility from the outset, not inherit it from an incumbent structure.

The role — Civil Marine / Senior Engineer

Reporting to the Project Director / Chief Engineer, you will hold chartered engineering responsibility across the marine construction cycle, from design review through construction to handover:

  • Lead engineering delivery on marine structures — berths, quays, jetties, breakwaters, seawalls and revetments — including review of permanent and temporary works
  • Direct dredging and reclamation works: methodology, plant selection, sequencing, survey control, settlement and quality monitoring
  • Own technical submissions, design departures and buildability reviews, ensuring deliverables meet chartered professional standards and withstand client and authority audit
  • Manage the marine construction interface: vessels, plant, navigation, environmental constraints, statutory marine permits and Marine Department liaison
  • Coordinate consultants, authorities and specialist subcontractors at technical and site level
  • Support commercial and claims functions with programme and technical records where required
  • Mentor site engineers and graduate engineers working toward professional qualification

Requirements

  • Corporate Membership of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (MHKIE), Civil discipline, in current standing — a mandatory requirement of the client's professional governance framework
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Demonstrated track record in marine, port or coastal engineering construction, main contractor or specialist marine contractor side
  • Working command of marine construction methods: piling over water, caissons and berthing structures, armour systems, dredging plant, marine survey and tolerance control
  • Strong written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Hong Kong statutory process experience (marine permits, EIA permit conditions, Marine Department interfaces) strongly preferred; international project exposure valued

The package

  • Base salary at a competitive market rate for a chartered marine engineer at senior level — chartership recognised with a salary premium
  • Performance bonus and medical benefits
  • Structured CPD aligned with HKIE professional development requirements
  • Regional exposure: the Hong Kong organisation connects into a global port and marine pipeline
  • A defining career position: founding-team engineers shape the local organisation's standards and progression path

All applications and enquiries are treated in absolute confidence. Client identity is disclosed only to candidates who pass our initial consultation and are shortlisted for client interview.
