The candidate will coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure quality requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Quality Oversight & Site Supervision

  • Review and verify contractors’ Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, quality control procedures, and inspection checklists for civil and steel structure works.
  • Witness and verify site and laboratory testing, including concrete testing, reinforcement inspections, welding inspections, bolt tightening and torque checks, and other relevant structural quality tests.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and surveillance to identify non-conformities, deviations from approved drawings, defective workmanship, and quality-related risks.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Review and verify QA/QC documentation, including Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), Work Inspection Requests (WIRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), material certificates, welding inspection reports, test reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, quality reports, site observations, and supporting documentation for civil and steel structure activities.
  • Prepare quality status reports highlighting inspection results, compliance levels, identified deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in quality meetings, progress reviews, and site inspections with contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Coordination & Compliance

  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, steel structure subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure compliance with approved quality requirements.
  • Verify that civil and structural steel works comply with approved structural drawings, project specifications, applicable UAE regulations, and relevant international codes and standards.
  • Review technical quality issues related to steel fabrication, welding, erection, connections, alignment, and dimensional accuracy, coordinating with the engineering team for resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, including ACI, ASTM, AWS, BS, Eurocodes, and relevant UAE requirements, as applicable to the project scope.

Corrective & Preventive Actions

  • Review, monitor, and follow up on NCRs and quality observations, ensuring timely implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Identify potential quality risks associated with civil construction and steel structure activities and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to the QA/QC Manager and Project Manager.
  • Monitor the closure of quality observations, verify the effectiveness of corrective actions, and ensure compliance before approval of completed works.
  • Support continuous improvement in site quality practices to minimize rework, prevent recurring defects, and maintain project quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant QA/QC experience in building construction or civil engineering projects, with substantial exposure to structural steel works.
  • Strong hands-on experience in steel structure fabrication, erection, welding inspection, bolted connections, alignment, dimensional checks, and structural installation activities.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete structures, foundations, reinforcement inspections, and associated civil construction activities is required.
  • Sound knowledge of structural inspection procedures, material testing, welding quality requirements, and construction quality control systems.
  • Familiarity with international construction codes and standards, project specifications, and applicable UAE regulations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CSWIP, AWS welding inspection, BGAS, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or other QA/QC-related qualifications will be an added advantage.
