Amentum is a Lot 1 delivery partner within the Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partners (DNWP) Framework, a major Sellafield programme worth up to £4.6 billion and running for up to 15 years. The framework is focused on safely accelerating decommissioning, remediation and high‑hazard risk reduction across one of the most complex nuclear sites in the world.
Our nuclear team supports the front‑end design, engineering, technical leadership and delivery expertise required across the DNWP portfolio. We are looking for individuals with high‑value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to who can work collaboratively, embrace new challenges and contribute to the mission of safely and efficiently delivering Sellafield’s decommissioning and nuclear waste objectives.
About the Opportunity
As a Civil / FIRAS Inspector you will ensure the materials, components, and finished products meet the defined quality standards and regulatory / customer requirements through inspection, measurement, testing and documentation review prior to reaching the Client.
You may report directly into the Quality Manager or the Quality Control Discipline Lead and work alongside Quality Engineers with support from the Quality Support Assistant. In your role you will have a dashed line into wider project team as led by the Project Manager and work collaboratively with all other project functions and role holders
The employee will be expected to contribute to the delivery of social value in line with the DNWP framework, supporting positive outcomes for local communities. Voluntary engagement is supported, with up to 16 hours per full‑time equivalent allocated.
Key Responsibilities:
Review of Lifetime Records (LTRs) requirements for discipline specific area as required.
Identify inspection and testing requirements per project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), task or job.
Input into tenders and estimates as required.
Review of works information including all relevant drawings, standards and specifications.
Complete in process review of LTRs for concurrency and final review and approval of LTR
Attend contract review as requested by Quality Engineer and Project / quality as well as sub-contractor / supplier start up meetings as required.
Produce Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection Checklists (ICLs) and all other documentation required for inspection verification (e.g. weld/NDT schedule) prior to works commencing.
Review and approve sub-contract inspection and verification documentation (e.g. weld/NDT schedule) prior to works commencing.
Complete snagging / in process inspection reports as well as in process review and maintenance of controlling verification documentation.
Produce and approve specialist procedures.
Conduct / support goods inward inspection.
Complete part release final inspection / release items, final area ICLs and final inspection reports.
Review Material Certification / consumable certification / quals / SQEP for installers or fabricators.
Complete in process inspections as per the controlling documentation and ensure concurrency.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Fire Door Inspection Scheme Inspector Diploma holder.
Either working towards or committed to achieving Level 3+ qualification in fire safety / passive fire protection.
FIRAS certified in the following areas: boards, penetration sealing, cavity barriers, steel doors, fire door maintenance, timber doors and partition systems – dry lined.
Experience within a highly assured and regulated industry within which passive fire protection was a key element of the role.
Previous experience in wider civil installation roles.
Professional membership with CQI (or equivalent), demonstrating commitment to quality standards and continuous improvement.
Experience with ITPs, ICLs, and inspection documentation.
Demonstrable experience of LTR management, ensuring traceability, compliance, and approval.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and standards.
Inspection delivery with strong concurrency and quality focus.
Subcontractor quality assurance and document approval.
Good knowledge of NDT, weld records, and material certification.
Strong attention to detail in maintaining quality documentation.
Stakeholder communication across engineering, quality, and supply chain.
