CJ Drilling – Civil Estimator

Are you an experienced estimator who thrives in civil construction projects? As a Civil Estimator at CJ Drilling, you will play a critical role in ensuring project success from proposal to completion. You will prepare and evaluate cost estimates by analyzing proposals, blueprints, and specifications; determine labor, material, and time requirements; and manage vendor bids. You will also maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, communicate with customers and project teams, identify potential risks, and participate in post-job reviews to improve future estimates.

About CJ Drilling (CJD Civil):

CJ Drilling, Inc. (doing business as "CJD Civil") is a nationwide certified WBE civil construction contractor focused on the energy and infrastructure markets. CJD Civil specializes in the state of the art foundation drilling and drilling services, substation civil, duct bank construction, manhole vault installations, concrete pouring and flatwork, land grading, and other civil services and construction. CJD Civil continues to grow its civil construction breadth of services and add new customers every year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and evaluate cost estimates for civil construction projects, including utility substation and transmission line work.
  • Analyze blueprints, proposals, and specifications to determine labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Manage vendor bids and maintain strong subcontractor relationships.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure accurate, timely project estimates.
  • Identify potential project risks and participate in post-job reviews for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or extensive experience in civil construction estimating.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in civil construction estimating, specifically utility substation and transmission line projects.
  • Proven experience analyzing proposals, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
