What’s on offer?

With the continued growth and diversification of our business, we are looking to appoint a Civil Estimator to join our Northern Region (QLD) Infrastructure business based in Eight Mile Plains.

Fulton Hogan is offering an exciting career path for a Civil Construction Professional to become an established estimator within the wider Fulton Hogan Infrastructure Services business. Key clients include National Defence, State Government, Local Government and the private sector throughout Queensland.

You will be provided with direct support from the local business and formal mentoring from the National Civil Estimating Manager to develop and grow your estimating prowess and unlock your full potential. We will provide initial and ongoing training in the use of Expert Estimator Genesis.

You may be an existing Estimator, a Project Engineer or a Civil construction professional seeking a new career path without the rigorous demands of site-based roles. Substantial delivery phase and demonstrated site experience is essential to this role. You will have great communication skills with a good rapport with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers across the industry and enjoy working in a team environment.

Reporting directly to the FHI Northern Sales & Tendering Manager you will be responsible for:

• Managing the tender process from start to finish including ensuring all elements of the tender are considered by the appropriate stakeholders and completed within the allotted time.
• Reviewing all tender documentation including specifications, quality, safety, and other requirements, as well as attending onsite tender briefings as required from time to time.
• Developing a winning construction methodology, including staging plans and verifying client schedules, programming the scope of works according to the construction methodology, assessing duration and productivity, and conducting win/loss reporting.
• Ensuring resource rates used are based on market rates & conditions, coordinating and sending out subcontractor/supply pricing packages, and performing overall quote analysis.
• Undertaking first principals estimates for various elements of civil construction, in conjunction with subcontractor pricing to ensure best for project outcomes
• Preparing detailed cost reports, summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients, providing presentations on project feasibility, budget adherence, innovations and cost-savings.

To be successful we are seeking:

• Intermediate knowledge within the Civil Construction Industry.
• Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge of civil infrastructure projects, pricing from first principles and/or delivering projects on site with ambitions to transition into a full-time Civil Estimator role.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills including writing.
• Ability to construct detailed Construction Programs in MS Project or similar.
• Detailed knowledge of estimating software such as Expert Estimator or equivalent estimating packages will be highly regarded, but not essential.

This position may require ad hoc travel.
