About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to coordinate and deliver civil engineering services that support the planning, development and sustainable management of Council’s municipal infrastructure assets.
Reporting to the Manager Projects and Engineering, the Civil Engineering Coordinator plays a key role in overseeing the planning, design, delivery and contract administration of civil works across the municipality. The role has specific responsibility for subdivision and development works, roads and drainage infrastructure, asset lifecycle management and compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks.
The position provides technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure projects, ensuring best-practice engineering standards, sound asset management principles and effective contract and project management practices are applied from project inception through to completion.
Working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities, the Civil Engineering Coordinator contributes to the delivery of high quality, safe and sustainable infrastructure outcomes while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, technical standards and Council policies. The role also leads and supports a diverse team of technical staff and contractors and contributes to Council’s broader infrastructure and long-term asset management objectives.

What you need to Succeed
You will bring strong expertise in civil engineering design, construction and works practices, with a sound understanding of lifecycle asset management as it applies to municipal infrastructure. You will have demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and approval frameworks associated with subdivisions and civil works, and extensive experience in contract administration, including tendering, supervision, variations and claims management. Proven capability to deliver civil projects end-to-end is essential, supported by high-level project and contract management skills and experience working with municipal assets such as roads and drainage.
You will be proficient in engineering design software and the presentation and interpretation of survey data, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to support robust technical assessments and recommendations. The role requires the ability to prepare clear, accurate and concise technical reports, along with well-developed communication and negotiation skills to engage effectively with stakeholders, contractors and internal teams. Strong time management and organisational capability is critical, particularly when managing multiple priorities and project timelines.
You will also bring demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical teams, providing direction, support and oversight to achieve project and organisational outcomes. A relevant qualification in civil engineering is required, along with eligibility for registration under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.
