Job Description
Audubon is currently seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team in our Houston, TX office. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, analysis, and execution of civil engineering projects supporting industrial facilities in the energy, chemical, and manufacturing sectors. This role will develop engineering deliverables for site development, grading, drainage, underground utilities, roadways, and related infrastructure while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. The Civil Engineer will support project managers throughout all phases of engineering and construction, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, client specifications, and company quality standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare engineering design packages including conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
- Perform civil engineering calculations including grading, drainage, stormwater management, earthwork quantities, utility sizing, and roadway design.
- Develop and review site layouts, grading plans, utility plans and profiles, paving plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and related civil engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate with survey teams to review and incorporate survey data into engineering designs and verify site control, benchmarks, and existing conditions.
- Perform earthwork modeling and cut/fill analyses to optimize site layouts and minimize construction costs.
- Review engineering drawings and technical documents for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering disciplines to resolve design interfaces and support multidisciplinary project execution.
- Support preparation of technical specifications, material takeoffs, and construction scope documents.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and field changes during construction as required.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, and project quality reviews.
- Assist with field investigations, site visits, and construction support activities as needed.
- Support project planning by identifying technical risks, evaluating alternatives, and recommending practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, standard details, and design efficiency.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
- 3–10 years of civil engineering experience supporting industrial, energy, chemical, refining, oil & gas, or related infrastructure projects.
- Experience with site development, grading, drainage, underground utilities, and roadway design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface modeling, grading, alignments, profiles, and utility design.
- Experience with SSA hydrologic and hydraulic analysis software is a plus.
- Familiarity with Navisworks and multidisciplinary model coordination is a plus.
- Working knowledge of applicable civil engineering codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction packages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting project schedules and client expectations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
