Work Arrangement: Primarily Office-Based with Limited Site Travel

Position Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to support wastewater projects and provide supplemental civil engineering expertise within the Greenville office. This position will work closely with internal stakeholders and engineering leadership to support the planning, design, evaluation, and execution of water, wastewater, and related civil infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, wastewater systems, technical design, and project execution, with the ability to evaluate complex information and develop practical engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & Wastewater Engineering

  • Support the planning and design of water, wastewater, and related civil infrastructure projects
  • Review and evaluate proposals, plans, and designs for water and wastewater treatment systems
  • Develop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, and cost studies
  • Conduct feasibility studies for water supply systems, runoff collection networks, wastewater collection systems, and water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Evaluate technical data to determine potential impacts on project designs and plans
  • Support engineering activities associated with construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure and facilities
  • Assist with technical evaluations and engineering problem-solving throughout project development

Design & Technical Documentation

  • Develop drawings, specifications, detailed instructions, and other engineering documentation
  • Provide technical direction regarding the fabrication, construction, assembly, modification, maintenance, and use of structures or equipment
  • Analyze engineering information and data to identify underlying technical issues and determine appropriate solutions
  • Compile, calculate, verify, categorize, and evaluate project information and technical data
  • Maintain a high level of quality control throughout design and documentation activities

Project Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the discipline lead engineer and Greenville-based stakeholders to support project execution
  • Identify and communicate potential changes to project scope
  • Support projects in meeting established schedule, budget, quality, and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to resolve engineering and design challenges
  • Provide supplemental civil engineering support based on project and office needs

Required Qualifications

  • Civil engineering experience supporting infrastructure, water, wastewater, or related projects
  • Understanding of water and wastewater treatment and collection systems
  • Experience reviewing engineering plans, designs, specifications, or technical proposals
  • Ability to develop conceptual layouts and support project cost studies
  • Experience evaluating technical data and solving engineering problems
  • Strong technical documentation and quality control capabilities
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with engineering leadership, project teams, and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to support projects within established schedules and budgets
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing project requirements

Candidate Must-Haves

  • Civil Engineering experience
  • Water and/or wastewater project experience
  • Experience reviewing civil engineering plans, designs, and technical documentation
  • Experience developing or supporting conceptual layouts and engineering studies
  • Strong engineering analysis and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to identify and communicate project scope changes
  • Strong quality control and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders
  • Ability to perform periodic construction site visits

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based work with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking
  • Periodic construction site visits to collect and verify project information
  • Very limited short-duration travel, generally for project or site reviews
  • Occasional non-traditional work hours may be required to meet project needs
