Civil Engineer – Wastewater

Location: Gainesville, GA

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support wastewater and civil infrastructure projects from the Gainesville, GA office. This position will provide technical direction for wastewater projects while supporting the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive Civil Engineering experience with a strong background in wastewater treatment plants, water and wastewater systems, technical design, feasibility studies, and construction support. This individual will work closely with project stakeholders and engineering leadership to develop practical, high-quality solutions while maintaining project schedule and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & Wastewater Engineering

• Provide engineering support and technical direction for wastewater and related civil infrastructure projects
• Plan and design water and wastewater treatment systems and supporting infrastructure
• Review and critique engineering proposals, plans, and designs related to water and wastewater treatment systems
• Develop conceptual layouts and project cost studies
• Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and detailed construction instructions
• Evaluate technical data to determine potential impacts on project designs and plans
• Perform engineering analysis to identify appropriate technical solutions
• Support design and engineering activities for civil infrastructure as required

Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

• Conduct feasibility studies for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Evaluate water supply systems, runoff collection networks, wastewater collection systems, and treatment facilities
• Support the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment plants
• Analyze project information and technical data to support engineering decisions
• Review project requirements to ensure designs meet established technical and quality standards

Project Coordination & Construction Support

• Work closely with discipline engineering leadership to identify and manage project scope changes
• Coordinate engineering information with internal stakeholders and project teams
• Support projects in meeting established schedule and budget objectives
• Conduct periodic construction site visits to gather project data and verify field conditions
• Assist with resolving engineering and design issues throughout project execution
• Compile, calculate, verify, and audit technical project information as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• 10–15 years of professional Civil Engineering experience
• Strong experience with wastewater treatment plants and wastewater infrastructure
• Experience planning and designing civil infrastructure projects
• Experience reviewing engineering plans, specifications, proposals, and technical designs
• Experience developing conceptual layouts and cost studies
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment and collection systems
• Experience conducting engineering and feasibility studies
• Ability to evaluate complex technical information and develop practical engineering solutions
• Strong understanding of project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience with wastewater treatment plant projects
• Experience with water supply and wastewater collection infrastructure
• Construction-phase engineering and field support experience
• Experience coordinating with engineering discipline leads and project stakeholders
• Experience identifying and managing engineering scope changes
• Background supporting projects from conceptual planning through design and construction
• Experience working within a consulting, engineering, or construction environment

Candidate Must-Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• 10–15 years of Civil Engineering experience
• Direct wastewater treatment plant experience
• Water and wastewater infrastructure experience
• Civil engineering design and technical analysis experience
• Experience reviewing plans, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Experience with conceptual layouts and feasibility studies
• Strong project coordination and problem-solving capabilities
