Overview

TRC is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer II to support the planning, design, analysis, and delivery of civil engineering projects. This position will work as part of a multidisciplinary project team and perform engineering assignments under the direction and supervision of experienced engineers and licensed Professional Engineers (PEs).

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering principles, effective problem-solving and communication skills, and an interest in continuing to develop their technical and professional capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil engineering calculations, analyses, and design assignments under the direction of senior engineering staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, calculations, cost estimates, and other project deliverables.
  • Develop and modify engineering drawings, plans, and design documents using applicable design and drafting software.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other technical documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Support engineering design activities related to site development, grading, drainage, utilities, transportation, water resources, or other civil infrastructure projects, as applicable.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, inspections, data collection, and documentation as required.
  • Analyze engineering data and assist with developing technical solutions to project challenges.
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, technicians, project managers, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with permitting, regulatory coordination, and preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Support project managers with project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical documentation.
  • Apply applicable engineering codes, standards, specifications, and established design practices.
  • Participate in project and client meetings and communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate project files, calculations, and engineering documentation.
  • Follow company quality assurance/quality control and health and safety procedures.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge and professional skills toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
  • 2–5 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and analyze technical information.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with or ability to learn applicable engineering design and drafting software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, co-op, or professional experience in civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other applicable engineering design software.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local engineering standards and regulations.
  • Field experience related to civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $75,000.00 - USD $89,440.00 /Yr.
