
The Colorado Springs Utilities Water/Wastewater design team is looking for a Water Infrastructure Design engineer to assist with CAD drafting, design calculations, research, and development of basis of design reports, specifications, and construction drawings for water and wastewater system projects. This role supports all phases of project delivery—planning, research, design, drafting, and construction support within Colorado Springs Utilities’ Water/Wastewater Engineering Support team. Responsibilities include interpreting utility data, preparing design documents, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

This position will be responsible for all phases of design, from records research, stakeholder engagement, AutoCAD drafting, through construction support. This position will allow you to develop your technical design skills and advance your career under the guidance of dedicated engineers who are passionate about their service to this community
What will it take to be successful? The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or a comparable technical field). This individual will use critical thinking to extract information from multiple data sources and apply sound engineering judgement in each phase of the design process. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a diverse team. The ability to organize, track, and manage schedules and balance multiple projects is critical to this position. Individuals who exhibit effective communication skills, a professional demeanor, and flexibility will excel in this position. Candidates should be proficient at drafting construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Knowledge of ArcGIS is desirable but not required. A Fundamentals of Engineering certification is required.
