Due to the growth of our HVDC business, we are currently looking for our next Civil Construction Manager for HVDC Projects (m/f/d) in the “Construction & Commissioning” function to participate in this energy transition for Central Europe.

Your Mission: You will be based in our Central Europe HVDC Office and you are responsible for the management of the complete Civil Construction scope of a large scale HVDC project. You are part of the project throughout all project phases, from Engineering phase till end of execution.

The HVDC sites are in Germany and your first project is the Landstation of BalWin5.

Main Tasks/Responsibilities:

1. EHS & Quality Oversight

  • Implement, monitor, record, and report EHS performance in line with GEV standards, in coordination with site construction staff.

  • Monitor key construction activities through sample inspections to ensure contractor compliance with contract requirements and Quality Plans.

2. Construction Planning & Coordination

  • Prepare the RfQ and select a Civil Subcontractor together with Sourcing

  • Prepare staffing plans, manage site team mobilization and track actuals versus plan including budget & costs

  • Develop & Plan site infrastructure and ensure the Construction Operating Rhythm is deployed

  • Coordinate construction activities with internal stakeholders and the customer and work with engineering teams to realize construction‑oriented designs.

3. Design & Data Readiness

  • Collaborate with the design office to ensure timely issuance of specifications, designs, BOQs, and material lists needed for site works.

4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor, record, and report contractor work progress together with site construction teams

  • Publish progress reports and provide key inputs for monthly project reports to the Project Management Team

5. Risk & Opportunity Management

  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities related to construction and commissioning activities

Your Profile:

  • Civil Engineering qualification with 5–10 years of experience, or equivalent background in construction execution and site management.

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager on large substation projects, or similar projects in Power Generation or the Oil & Gas business.

  • Strong health and safety mindset aligned with international standards, with the ability to identify and stop unsafe work.

  • Solid knowledge of German construction standards

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear verbal and written reporting in German and English

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to recommend and approve corrective actions.

  • Willingness to travel within Germany (app. 20 %, depending on project phase)
