Job Description

The City Planner shapes how Verne’s robotaxi service is deployed in each new city. Using demographic, mobility, and infrastructure data, you will design Service Areas, define pickup/drop-off (PUDO) locations, and build the evidence base that aligns Verne and city stakeholders around a clear, defensible plan.

This is a hands-on analytical role with a strong external face. You will move between deep spatial analysis and senior conversations with city authorities and transit agencies, and stay close to live operations - monitoring service performance and proactively planning mitigations when conditions on the ground change.

What will you do?

• Lead end-to-end urban planning analyses to define optimal Service Areas, combining demographic data, User personas, Points of Interest (POIs), traffic dynamics, infrastructure constraints, and local mobility goals into structured, defensible recommendations.
• Translate spatial, demographic, and mobility datasets into clear zone definitions and geographical boundaries aligned with origin–destination (OD) patterns.
• Define, design, and refine PUDO locations using utilisation data, accessibility analysis, and compliance reviews.
• Develop Service Area rollout plans and phased expansion roadmaps, supported by data-driven business cases and consulting-style recommendations for leadership review.
• Build dashboards and analytical models - OD analysis, demand forecasting, scenario modelling - that quantify the impact of planning decisions.
• Act as the primary planning advisor to city authorities and transit agencies: present findings, lead workshops, and negotiate alignment around the Service footprint.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Software teams to translate planning logic into operational tools and software features.
• Monitor rider feedback, operational KPIs, and external mobility trends to identify refinement opportunities and quantify their expected impact.
• Support integration of the Service into the city’s wider mobility ecosystem - multimodal interfaces, transit hand-offs, and shared use of city data systems.

What do you need to succeed?

• MA degree, PhD is a plus, in Transport and Traffic Sciences, or a other relevant fields.
• Consulting experience (management, strategy, or transportation consulting) with a track record of structuring problems and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Track record of structuring complex problems and presenting clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Strong experience translating large spatial or mobility datasets into strategic decisions and quantified business cases.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication - comfortable briefing executives and city officials.
• Attention to detail and comfort working in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
• Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, paired with creative thinking and strong stakeholder management.
• Bonus: Experience in urban sustainable mobility systems and integration of new mobility services into existing city infrastructure.
