Alaro City is a joint venture between Rendeavour, the largest new city and industrial park builder in Africa, and the Lagos State Government. It is one of the fastest growing real estate and urban development projects in Nigeria. It is conceived on 2,000 hectares of land and has areas for offices, logistics and warehousing, homes, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, entertainment and 150 hectares of parks and open spaces.

Located in the North West Quadrant of the Lekki Free Zone, Alaro City is ideally situated on the Lekki-Epe Expressway for ease of transportation to Lagos or towards the rest of Nigeria.

Alaro City is a secure, predictable and proven environment for individuals and businesses, and already home to investments by notable global and local business such as BUA Group, CAT (Mantrac), Ariel Foods, Kenol, SANA Group and international real estate developers and investors. It is in close proximity to the future Lagos international airport and close to the region’s largest deep sea port and major Nigerian and international companies.

Working with the City Services Coordinator, the City Environmental Services Officer is responsible for ensuring environmental management, compliance with city standards, and coordination of governance implementation across the city.

The role ensures that all developments and operations within the city are conducted in line with approved purposes, environmental standards, and city guidelines, maintaining compliance, order, and operational integrity.

The position serves as a critical link between policy, enforcement, and operational service delivery, with a strong focus on waste management, pollution control, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Governance Coordination & Compliance

• Coordinate the implementation of city governance policies across all operational areas.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to city development guidelines and operational standards.
• Identify, document, and escalate deviations from approved city policies and guidelines.
• Support enforcement actions through structured inspections, reporting, and follow-ups.
• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks to guide operations across the city.

2. Environmental Management & Monitoring

• Monitor environmental conditions across the city, including cleanliness, pollution levels, and general environmental health.
• Implement and oversee environmental management systems in line with global best practices.
• Ensure compliance with environmental policies and sustainability objectives.
• Provide recommendations for continuous environmental improvement across the city.

3. Waste Management & Pollution Control

• Oversee waste management systems (general and hazardous) across the city.
• Ensure proper waste segregation, evacuation, and disposal in line with approved standards.
• Monitor and control pollution sources, including construction and operational activities.
• Work with contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with waste and environmental standards.

4. Compliance, Inspection & Enforcement

• Conduct routine and targeted inspections of existing premises, buildings, and facilities to ensure utilization is strictly in accordance with approved use and city development guidelines.
• Carry out inspections across the city to verify compliance with environmental, operational, and city standards.
• Identify, document, and escalate non-compliance and deviations from approved guidelines.
• Support enforcement actions, including corrective measures and penalties where applicable.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.

5. City Standards & Operational Alignment

• Ensure adherence to defined city standards across all service areas (landscape, waste, infrastructure, etc.).
• Support operational teams in aligning activities with city governance and compliance requirements.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of city standards and policies.

6. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on environmental conditions, compliance status, and enforcement activities.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and compliance performance.
• Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Hard Skills & Experience

1. A degree in Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. 3–5 years’ experience in environmental management, facilities management, or compliance roles.
3. Strong knowledge of environmental management practices, waste management systems, and pollution control.
4. Ability to conduct inspections and enforce compliance standards effectively.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
6. Strong reporting and documentation skills.
