
The Sponsor Coverage team leads Citi Commercial Bank’s coverage of middle market financial sponsors. The team serves as the central point of coordination for all Commercial Bank sponsor activity, with core priorities that include originating and executing bank capital financings for sponsor-backed portfolio companies, expanding engagement with sponsors across industries and geographies, driving penetration of Treasury & Trade Solutions and Markets products, and partnering with Citi’s Financial Institutions group to deliver GP- and fund‑level TTS, Markets, and financing solutions.
The Sponsor Coverage Associate plays a critical execution role within this framework, with a primary focus on the underwriting and approval of financing transactions. Associates work closely with senior Sponsor Coverage bankers to originate new opportunities, lead detailed credit and financial analysis, and manage transactions through Citi’s internal credit approval process.
