Job Location: All Las Vegas YMCA Locations - Las Vegas, NV 89107
Position Type: Part Time
Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.00 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Chronic Disease Management Coordinator, this position will provide support and guidance to Spanish speaking participants in the YMCA’s Chronic Disease Management and Prevention Programs and implement standard curriculum designed for the program. The Lifestyle Coach/Facilitator will be committed to and supportive of the Y mission with an emphasis on support to health seekers. Must have strong communication and relationship building skills, the ability build community within a group, and have empathy for health seekers.
This is a part-time in person position requiring approximately 2-4 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide curriculum to class participants in effective, meaningful and compelling ways.
- Encourage group participation and interaction through the use of open-ended questions and facilitate commitment and retention of participants.
- Create a motivating environment that is friendly and non-competitive.
- Foster relationships with and between participants and make learning a shared responsibility for the group.
- Cultural competency and understanding of behavior change are required.
- Prepare before each class (i.e. review participants’ food and activity trackers, lesson plan, content for class, reminder call to participants).
- Provide accessibility to participants both before and after sessions to answer questions and follow-up on any questions you cannot answer during class time.
- Follow-up with participants outside of class if they are unable to attend (provide an in-persona make-up session opportunity).
- Support and encourage goal setting on a weekly basis.
- Record weekly data in a computer software program for each participant (attendance, body weight, physical activity total weekly minutes, etc.).
- Knowledge of basic health, nutrition, and fitness is encouraged. An understanding of behavior change required.
- Proficiency with Listen First or motivational interviewing highly encouraged.
- Arrive for class on time and dressed appropriately.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children.
- Attends required abuse risk management training.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of basic health, nutrition, and fitness is encouraged and understanding of behavior change required.
Must be bi-lingual (English and Spanish)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, TRAININGS:
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer & First Aid (within (3) months of hire date)
- Foundations of Listen First - Y Exchange eLearning (prior to first class)
- Understanding Diabetes - Y Exchange eLearning (prior to first class)
- Introduction to the YMCA’s Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program - Y Exchange eLearning (prior to first class)
- Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y - Y Exchange eLearning (prior to first class)
- YMCA’s Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Ambassador Instructor- Y Exchange eLearning (prior to first class)
- YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program Prevent T2 Lifestyle Coach- Y Exchange eLearning (prior to first class)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

END RESULT:
- Facilitate the YMCA’s Chronic Disease Management and Preventative Programs that meets the standards set forth in the curriculum to assist participants in meeting their health and wellness goals.
- To promote greater understanding of the YMCA and its mission and goals.
- Provide participants with ongoing availability of services, programs and leadership in the health and wellness area thus helping the association to achieve higher levels of membership retention.
