The Associated Press seeks a news assistant with a history of successfully assisting in all-formats storytelling to join its team in China.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Greater China News Director, this news assistant will aid in in-depth research, translation and reporting in support of the AP's team covering China. The role may also include assisting in producing and editing video stories for AP’s broadcast, digital and mobile customers and platforms. As a member of a dynamic, round-the-clock operation, you must be prepared to assist with reporting in all media formats to help produce a competitive and comprehensive news report. You must have the ability and willingness to work any shift, including at night and on weekends, or as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.
We’re looking for someone who will:
Preferred Qualifications: You must possess advanced research skills, as well as the ability to work within an all-formats team to apply those skills from start to finish on breaking news and short- and long-term projects. Applicants should have strong experience pursuing confirmation of breaking news, chasing leads that deliver scoops and setting up reporting trips that include getting permissions and interviews. You must work effectively in a deadline driven, dynamic and competitive newsroom environment, and understand how news content is consumed across a variety of devices and platforms.
