Job Description

AMHC is seeking a Children's Specialist Services Manager in from either Aroostook, Hancock, or Washington County, to assist with our Program Director of Children's Services with administrative, programmatic, and day-to-day operations of the children's specialist behavioral health services.

We are looking for a candidate that will assist in the oversight, development, and continuous improvement of children’s behavioral health programs and services.

This position provides leadership, supervision, quality oversight, workforce development, community collaboration, and performance management to help ensure accessible, high-quality services for children and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Operations and Leadership

  • Assist the Program Director of Children’s Services in evaluating, monitoring, and improving service delivery.
  • Support the development, implementation, and expansion of children’s behavioral health programs and services.
  • Collaborate with agency leadership, managers, and outpatient office managers regarding daily operations, service redesign, and new program development.
  • Participate in strategic planning, organizational initiatives, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and oversight to service leads and supervisory staff.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, and staff retention efforts.
  • Promote professional development and a positive, collaborative work environment.

Quality, Compliance, and Performance

  • Ensure case management services and records comply with AMHC policies, procedures, licensing and regulatory requirements, contracts, and third-party payer requirements.
  • Monitor the quality, accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of required documentation.
  • Use program data, audits, caseload information, quality indicators, and feedback to identify trends and improve outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators for case management operations.
  • Support staff and supervisors with complex cases, barriers to care, service transitions, and coordination with crisis or emergency resources.

Community and System Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, referral sources, schools, state agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight and support for school-based programming and community partnerships.
  • Maintain a visible presence at program sites, outpatient offices, and community settings to strengthen relationships and service integration.

Financial and Performance Management

  • Assist with development and monitoring of program budgets while promoting fiscal responsibility and quality services.
  • Monitor program performance indicators, including access to care, referrals, productivity, utilization, quality measures, and client outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and service performance.

Physical Requirements

  • The position requires the ability to sit and stand, walk, talk, hear, and operate standard office equipment, including a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a children’s residential treatment setting and within the community.
  • Regular travel throughout the service area is required.
  • The position may involve exposure to varying levels of activity and noise associated with residential and community-based services.

Schedule and Employment Classification

  • This position is classified as exempt from the pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Normal agency business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • The position may occasionally require work beyond the normal workweek based on program and agency needs.

Supervisory Relationship

The Children’s Specialty Services Manager reports directly to the Program Director of Children’s Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Health Care, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in behavioral health, social services, case management, or a related human services setting required.
  • 1-2 years of previous supervisory or program management experience is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of care coordination, multidisciplinary service delivery, documentation standards, quality improvement, workforce development, and applicable regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet all licensing, credentialing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Today the agency is the largest behavioral healthcare provider in the region with nearly 30 service locations across Aroostook, Washington and Hancock counties offering an array of mental health, substance use, crisis, sexual assault, prevention, and brain injury services (Aroostook).
