Do you love helping children learn and grow? Countryside YMCA is looking for caring, energetic Childcare Teachers to join our team. Available Shifts

We currently have part-time openings across the following schedules (Monday–Friday):

• 11:45am – 5:30pm (Toddler classroom)
• 6:30am – 12:30pm (Floater, various classrooms)
• 7:30am – 1:30pm (Preschool classroom)

What You'll Do

Working alongside your classroom's Lead Teacher, you'll help bring daily learning activities to life while keeping children safe, engaged, and cared for. Your day-to-day will include:

• Partnering with the Lead Teacher on classroom planning, activities, and supervision
• Helping with feeding, dressing, and daily routines that support each child's growth
• Encouraging emotional, social, and physical development in a warm, positive environment
• Watching for signs of developmental concerns and communicating with families as needed
• Guiding behavior using age-appropriate, positive discipline strategies
• Modeling healthy habits — mealtime, rest time, and hygiene routines
• Keeping the classroom clean, sanitized, and ready for kids
• Tracking daily records: observations, activities, meals, and any medications given
• Completing point-of-service meal counts
• Participating in annual CACFP training
• Pitching in on other classroom duties as they come up

QualificationsCompliance & Standards

This role supports Countryside YMCA's commitment to Step Up to Quality, USDA/CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program), and ODJFS licensing requirements.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children preferred (not required)
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred; if not already certified, must obtain within 30 days of hire and stay current
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Strong communication skills with children, parents, and coworkers
• Patience, warmth, and genuine enjoyment of working with kids
• A solid understanding of early childhood development and teaching strategies

Physical Demands

This role involves extended periods of standing and frequent bending, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. As with any childcare setting, staff may be exposed to common illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
