We’re looking for a Childcare Secondary Teacher to join our team at 1591 Taos Rd Pueblo, CO.
What You’d Be Doing
In this role, you’ll support a safe, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive learning environment by assisting with curriculum implementation, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs, and documenting children’s growth through timely anecdotal notes and goal tracking. You’ll engage actively with the classroom team, participate in parent communication, and ensure strict compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures while supervising children attentively across all age groups. Additionally, you’ll help maintain classroom operations through meal assistance, toileting/diapering, cleaning duties, and other responsibilities that support high-quality childcare and center readiness.
RESPONSIBILITIES:  Secondary Teachers are assigned responsibility for several different groups of children throughout the day and to help implement and provide a positive learning environment for children to facilitate the mental, physical, social, and emotional development of children.
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and the Primary Teachers, the Secondary Teacher is responsible for:
Actively participating in all scheduled Team meetings and trainings as required
Helping to plan a comprehensive, multi-cultural curriculum to promote the growth and development of all children in their classroom
Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of all children
Responsible for the timely completion of Anecdotal Notes
Responsible for supporting each child’s individual goals to enhance their learning and development
Actively participating in planned parent communication at the guidance of the Primary Teacher
Tracking daily attendance and feeding/meals in the agency-supplied classroom management platform
Maintaining current knowledge of the center's emergency procedures and able to carry out emergency preparedness, fire, and tornado drills regularly
Responsible for maintaining credentials required for the position
Adhering to all health, safety, and food handling and sanitation requirements for feeding/meal servicing
Providing a developmentally appropriate healthy and safe learning environment for the children in each classroom they are working in
Modeling and practicing developmentally appropriate behavior when working with children, families, and staff
Responsible for sanitizing all toys and equipment utilized in their classroom or playground, and laundering all linens associated with their classroom items
Teaching and participating in diapering and/or toileting for children
Participate in feeding/mealtimes
Assisting with kitchen duties (preparing snacks, cleaning, etc.), and Outdoor playground and gym maintenance and cleaning
Responsible for constant and attentive supervision of all children in their care
Flexibility to work with all ages of children from infants to 16 years of age
Responsible for handling emergencies such as first aid, parent contacts, etc
Following all policies and procedures of Health Solutions
Following all Colorado Childcare and Health Department Rules and Regulations
Performing other job-related duties assigned by the Site Supervisor or his/her designee
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
Ability to sit on the floor, walk, bend, stand, sit

QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For—The Must-Haves
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a current Child Development Associate Credential CDA or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or possess a current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II  or higher; or a higher degree from an accredited college or university with major study in Child Development, Child Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Educational Leadership and Administration, Elementary Education, Family and Human Development, Family Studies or Special Education
Demonstrated ability to work with children and adults from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, who are experiencing crisis situations
Knowledgeable regarding behavioral health, physical health, and child serving systems
Excellent communication skills
Valid Colorado driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation during work hours

Spanish language skills

Provide a letter of verified experience hours in the care and supervision of four or more children less than eight years of age not related to applicant
