Job Description


At St. John Bosco Child Development Center the Child Caregiver provides attentive, nurturing care to children in a licensed childcare facility. Responsibilities include supervising children, assisting with daily routines, and supporting a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment in compliance with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Minimum Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage with children to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and nap routines as needed.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development through age-appropriate activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Observe and report any signs of illness, injury, or abuse according to center policies and Texas DFPS regulations.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Communicate respectfully and clearly with parents, staff, and supervisors.
  • Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Preferred: Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (e.g., CDA credential or equivalent).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with young children, preferably in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.

Training and Certification:

  • Completion of required Texas DFPS training hours in childcare, health, safety, and child abuse prevention.
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Must pass criminal background checks as required by Texas DFPS licensing.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time or part-time hours depending on facility needs.
