Child Welfare Support Staff Supervisor

The Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill their Child Welfare Support Supervisor. A Child Welfare Support Staff Supervisor ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations by utilizing data and reports for the region, monitoring case activity, budget expenditures, etc., as well as supervising support staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing, processing, and analyzing documents; reviewing for accuracy and completeness; updating information and/or evaluating against policy; comparing for consistency.

• Developing and maintaining area-specific records, reviewing reports, resolving the more sensitive compliance issues, and providing area centralization for agency-level coordination.

• Receiving, researching, and responding to incoming questions and/or complaints; providing information, explaining policy and/or procedure, and/or facilitating resolutions.

• Monitoring and coordinating output for accuracy of information.

• Acting as a resource to provide information and determining the most effective way of meeting the needs of management, staff, clients, or customers.

• May include performing 24-hour on-call services as required under supervisor's direction. 24-hour on-call service assignments may be based on, and subject to, geographic employment location and/or agency demand.

• Is a current employee of the Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS)

• Is adept at interacting professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations

• Deals with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism

Qualifications

Preferences

• Have professional work experience or an educational background in social work, psychology, sociology, family and human development, human services, criminal justice or related areas.

• Have supervisory experience.

• Have two or more years of experience with DCFS, Northern Region.

• Have experience using SAFE (State social services computer application program), FINET, or USSDS.

• Possess strong skills using Microsoft Word and Excel for record keeping purposes.

• Have a working knowledge of laws governing access to public and private records (Government Records Access and Management Act).

Supplemental Information:

• May require 24-hour on-call services/time. 24-hour on-call services response time to be determined by the agency.

• Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current employees.

• Travel required; you may be required to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position; approved mileage is reimbursable through State Finance.

• All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).

• Must have a valid Utah driver’s license.

• A position’s eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

• The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.

Physical Requirements

• Moderate - This position requires some physical exertion. You must be able to stand, walk over rough surfaces, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift moderately heavy items up to 50 lbs. (such as recurrently lifting or carrying a child) ..

Working Conditions

• High Risk - You will be exposed to risks and environmental stressors found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g., entering clients' homes, working around contagious diseases/infestations (i.e., parasitic infections caused by head lice, bed bugs, scabies, etc.), exposure to chemicals/illegal substances, or being subject to possible physical or verbal attack.
