Job Description

This position is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

This opening is for the Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline, a 24/7/365 operation. This position is responsible for receiving and processing concerns alleging abuse or neglect made by the public to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.

Extensive training will be provided to new employees.

Annual Salary

Applicants who possess a Master's Degree in Social Work will be entitled to a salary incentive of an additional 5%.

Available Shifts: This is an in-office position.

Sunday - Thursday

  • shift start times may be 11am, 12pm and 1pm (after training)
  • 3:30 pm – 12 midnight (after training)

Tuesday - Saturday

  • shift start times may be 11am, 12pm and 1pm (after training)
  • 3:30 pm – 12 midnight (after training)
  • 12 midnight – 8:00 am (after training)

Any hours worked outside of normal business hours (7 am - 6 pm) will receive shift differential pay.

All shifts may work Holidays if during their shift

Minimum Qualifications

Child Welfare Specialist, Level I

  • Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university.
  • OR 3 years of experience related to child welfare work.
  • OR A combination of education and experience.

Child Welfare Specialist, Level II

  • A bachelor's degree (in any field) to qualify.
  • OR One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.

Child Welfare Specialist, Level III

  • A Master's degree.
  • OR a Bachelors Degree plus one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • OR Two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.

Job Duties

All New Employees will complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program

  • Position works closely with Child Protective Services to screen and analyze reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and threats to a child’s safety that are received by the 24 hour statewide Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.
  • Assists the caller with providing information regarding the alleged child abuse or neglect; interprets what child abuse or neglect is to the caller; identifies possible child abuse or neglect; and gathers sufficient information to make decisions about the alleged abuse or neglect.
  • Documents and processes reports received at the Hotline in the Child Abuse and Neglect Information System (KIDS); determines if the allegations require an emergency response and notifying district Child Welfare Services (CWS) personnel immediately when an emergency response is necessary

Travel is Occasional - Must possess a valid driver's license and must maintain required car insurance. State vehicles will be available for use to carry out the duties of the position.
