Job Description

Job Location Evansville, IN 47708 Salary Range $10.00

To provide a safe, supervised play environment for the children signed into the YMCA Child Watch and Youth Activity Center while the parents or guardians are on the premises. Children’s ages range from infant to fourteen years of age.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.

  2. Complete required abuse risk management training.

  3. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.

  4. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

  5. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

  6. Assist with daily activities for children, guide them through these activities, and remain active with them through all activities

  7. Responsible for the children's safety, supervision, and activities in the room.

  8. Communicate child progress and/or problems with parents as needed.

  9. Maintains the rooms orderly, ensuring daily sanitizing/cleaning and basic health and safety codes are always met

  10. Communicate with the Childwatch Coordinator about any concerns, maintenance issues, and supply needs.

  11. Ensure that an accurate sign-in/out log and file log sheets are completed at the end of each shift.

  12. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect and the YMCA.

  13. Changing diapers or assisting with toileting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogen training is required within 60 days of employment.

  2. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all community social and economic segments

  4. Previous customer service, childcare, or other related experience.

  5. Basic knowledge of computers.
