Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denversupportsa hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work in person 3 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

Division of Economic Security:
Through our Economic Security Division (ESD), Denver Human Services seeks to engage residents in strengthening economic well-being and mobility across their lifespan. By leveraging the resources of Denver Human Services’ programs and a network of community partnerships, Economic Security provides a holistic approach to service delivery in order toassist customers in the ability to foresee crisis as well as adapt to and leverage changing life conditions to their advantage. 


The Economic Security Division is comprised of the following program areas: Colorado Works Workforce Development, SNAP to Success (Denver’s name for Employment First), Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP) and Child Support Services (CSS). 

Child Support Services (CSS)is currently seekinghighly skilled applicants for the position Child Support Technician IIto work with our dynamic accounting unit.CSS partners with federal, state, tribal, and local governments, in addition to other partners, and works to promote parental responsibility so that children receive support from both parents, even when they live in separate households.  Nationally, the child support program is one of the largest income-support programs for families, contributing money to family budgets to help pay for the basics: shelter, food, childcare, transportation, and school clothes.Our program strives to incorporate innovative strategies to improve the consistency and reliability ofchild support paymentsOur dedicated team of accounting professionals play a pivotal role in ensuring child support payments are receivedby familiestimely

Specifically,you will:

  • Perform critical accounting functions related to Child Support Services programs including arrears calculations, processing child support payments, updating financial records, and executing several different financial reports using Microsoft Excel and other software programs. All fiscal duties require a strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Complete complex calculations including legal calculations for court hearings.
  • Review court orders and minutes and attend court proceedings, when requested.
  • Enter, compile, andmaintainclient records in various databases ranging from updating ledger balance information to calculating ongoing child support obligations
  • Communicate with clients and associated partiesregardingexplanation of child support services, payment processes, and payment requirements
  • Collaborate with DHS Child Support Enforcement Professionals.
  • Complete other assigned projects and reports, as requested.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HSET or TASC Certificate. 
  • Experience: Four (4) years of experience performing child support initiation, enforcement, collections, investigations, case management or a related field.
  • Education & Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
