Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work out of the Denver Human Services Castro building (1200 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80204) during in-office days. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

The Child Support Services (CSS) Division of Denver Human Services is currentlyseekinghighly skilled applicant for the position of Child Support Enforcement Technician II. Child Support Services (CSS) partners with federal, state, tribal, and local governments, and others to promote parental responsibility so that children receive support from both parents, even when they live in separate households. Nationally, the child support program is one of the largest income-support programs for families, contributing money to family budgets to help pay for the basics: shelter, food, childcare, transportation, and school clothes. Child support makesa big differenceto children. We strive to provide family centered services and are incorporating innovative strategies that improve the reliability of child support payments.

Child Support Enforcement Technician II: 

  • Completes the early intervention process by interviewing obligors and obliges as well as researching and gathering any remaining relevant information and all necessary case documentation 
  • Effectively manage both automated (system-selected) and manual enforcement remedies to ensure appropriate application (and/or suppression) based upon unique case and individual situations, and further utilize critical thinking to determine whether any resources are available to assist families with breaking down barriers to compliance with court-ordered support obligations and financial stability in general
  • Enforce orders when clients live in different states or different countries
  • Utilize various systems and processes tolocateinformationregardingthe parties to support the enforcement of the child support orders. One party mayresideoutside of Colorado or in a different country 
  • Meets with and communicates with clientsregardingexplanation of child support enforcement services,processesand requirements as well as coordinates stipulations and settlements
  • Assess, plan, monitors and evaluates cases to improve outcomes for assigned child support cases 
  • Prepares cases for by organizing case files to include relevant documents for legal proceedings as well as prepare legal documents for individual cases asrequired

  • Experience working with interstate child support cases
  • A passion for public service and improving the lives of families through strong critical thinking skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Experience with managing multiplehigh prioritytasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Exhibits agility in an evolving work environment
  • Experience engaging customers from diverse backgrounds with a solution-oriented approach through phone, email, and face-to-face contact
  • Experience with ACSES, CBMS, Adobe and Microsoft suite is a plus
  • Validdriverslicense preferred  

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED,HiSETor TASC Certificate
  • Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience performing child support initiation, enforcement, collections, investigations, casemanagementor a related field
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additionalappropriate educationmay be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
