Job Description

Our client in Hertfordshire is seeking an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join its Children’s Services team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and families, undertaking statutory assessments, safeguarding enquiries, and child protection interventions to ensure children are safe and achieve positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, assess risk, develop effective safeguarding plans, and work collaboratively with families and partner agencies. You will play a key role in ensuring children’s voices are heard and their welfare remains at the centre of all decision-making.

What will your responsibilities be?

In this role, you will:

  • Managing a caseload of complex child protection and safeguarding cases.
  • Undertaking statutory assessments, child protection enquiries, and statutory visits.
  • Assessing risk and implementing effective interventions to safeguard children.
  • Contributing to child protection conferences, reviews, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Preparing high-quality reports, assessments, and case records.
  • Working closely with families, schools, health professionals, police, and partner agencies.
  • Ensuring children’s wishes and feelings are represented in planning and decision-making.
  • Managing cases effectively and meeting statutory timescales.
  • Promoting strengths-based, child-centred social work practice.
  • Ensuring the safety, welfare, and best interests of children remain the highest priority.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Social Work England registration.
  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • Experience working within statutory Children’s Services.
  • Experience managing child protection, safeguarding, and assessment caseloads.
  • Strong assessment, report writing, and risk management skills.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working abilities.
