Position: Child Nutrition Assistant Manager INTERNAL/EXTERNAL Closing: October 12, 2026

Reports to: Directly responsible to Child Nutrition Supervisor, indirectly reports to Operations Manager and Specialist

Location: District Wide/Various Locations

Position Function: Responsible for preparation and overall operational functions of the food service area and employees. Successful completion of job duties will result in an eating environment where meals are prepared, served and stored in an atmosphere that promotes food safety, sanitation and a warm, inviting experience for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years documented food service management experience with knowledge of child nutrition programs.
• Demonstrated skill in personnel relations and aptitude for successful performance of job responsibilities.
• Ability to supervise multiple locations while maintaining inventory, productivity and sanitation standards.
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED. ServSafe certification and willingness to complete Units 1-4.
• Proficient in the following: Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook.

Child Nutrition – Assistant Manager Posting

District Wide/Various Locations

Performance Responsibilities:

• ServSafe Certification is required by Delaware Food Code.
• Responsible for implementation and overseeing district HACCP plan
• Responsible for accurate recording and reporting employee daily attendance
• Shall request foods, supplies and equipment through Child Nutrition Office; check, verify and sign all delivery slips and invoices
• Shall supervise all food preparation to maintain high standards of quality, flavor and merchandise for optimum eye appeal
• Shall maintain quality and quantity control through size of standardized recipes
• Shall instruct and supervise staff on portion control
• Shall be responsible for receiving, moving and storing food service food and supplies in accordance with proper standards and procedures
• Shall maintain high standards of sanitation and safety as required by State Board of Health and district HACCP plan
• Shall instruct and supervise personnel in the safe, proper and efficient operation, care and maintenance of equipment
• Shall assist in evaluating the cook, lead, satellite lead, satellite meal handler and general worker annually
• Shall prepare and maintain computerized perpetual inventories of food, equipment, commodities as required by Child Nutrition Department
• Shall maintain accurate daily records of meals, milk, a la carte, bank deposits and all other required records
• Shall report all service and repairs needed immediately to Child Nutrition Office
• Shall establish, in the interest of good public relations, a healthy, cooperative relationship with building principal, staff, students, and all to whom or from whom services are rendered or received
• Shall participate in preparation, service and clean up as needed
• Shall perform other related duties as assigned
• Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per work day.
• Minimum lifting requirements – 50 pounds
• Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility and ambulatory needs of students.
• Must report to work on time every work day.
• Must perform all duties as assigned during scheduled work days.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have transportation daily to visit and/or work in other locations as needed.
