Days/Evenings (United States of America)

Plans, organizes, and directs activities that promote optimum development of children, adolescents, and families in a normal living patterns and to minimize psychological trauma for pediatric ambulatory patients and inpatients throughout the Medical Center. Assesses individual and group needs. Compiles data regarding programs, evaluates results and implements needed changes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Child Life, Child Psychology or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience with children in a hospital setting.

  • Child Life Certification preferred

  • Work requires analytical ability to assess developmental educational needs, and to develop individualized plans to meet those needs.

  • Work requires one year on the job training to acquire necessary familiarity with departmental policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates leadership ability and interpersonal skills sufficient to ensure quality communication between multidisciplinary team members that enhances patient/family satisfaction.

Work Conditions

Works in patient care environment with some exposure to communicable diseases. Work requires standing and walking; may assist with lifting and positioning of patient.

Key Job Duties

  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by preparing reports for and maintaining records for Auxiliary and Foundation accounts.

  • Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to designated Manager (or employer hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts of practices

  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mission and Core Values

  • Adheres to all standards and policies regarding safety/patient safety initiatives.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of the patient serviced on assigned unit - Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span by completing required competencies.

  • Is responsible for all other duties as assigned.
