Job Description

As a Child Life Assistant, you provide compassionate care to promote hope and healing. Your skills in therapeutic play and concern for others will help to promote the emotional and mental well-being of our pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

Works alongside Child Life Specialists to minimize stress and anxiety for patients and their families in the hospital setting. Supports Child Life program through planning, organizing, and facilitating playroom and bedside activities for pediatric patients and their families. Responsible for the training and supervision of Child Life volunteers. Monitors and ensures proper cleaning and working condition of playrooms, toys, and equipment. Assists in the coordination of special events, in-kind donations, and community visitors. Performs other duties appropriate to the position when requested by the manager or by other members of the Child Life program.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s Degree in child development or related field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one-year experience working with children.

  • Promotes cost effectiveness through the proper use and conservation of supplies and equipment.
  • Takes the initiative to identify and solve problems.
  • Supports improvement and innovation in the workplace.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and supports Legacy Health departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Promotes professional development and contributes to the professional growth of others.
  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Licensure

Licensure/Certification:

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers card from the American Heart Association.

Pay Range

USD $23.43 - USD $33.50 /Hr.
