Job Description

Designs, implements, and reviews age-appropriate curriculum, manages classroom activities and interactions, supervises assistant teachers, students and volunteers while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
  • Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Communicates effectively with parents regarding children's progress and behavior.
  • Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior.
  • Observes and assesses children's development and growth.
  • Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.

Education Requirement:

  • Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or related field with 30 quarter or 24 semester hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or equivalent credential, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.

Certifications:

Active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or certification within one year of hire, required.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
  • Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

Experience:

Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred.
