Position Title: Child Care Attendant Position Code: ChildCare-8215

Department: Del E. Webb Wellness and Rehabilitation Center Safety Sensitive Yes

Reports to: Membership Services/Sales Nursery Manager Exempt Status No

Position Purpose:

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.

Directly responsible for the care of infants and children in various nursery work area. Other duties involve taking reservations and maintaining a safe, clean and healthy child care environment.

Key Responsibilities [List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position]

  • Provide care for children which involves indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Communicate orally in person and on the phone, in writing to customer, co-worker and supervisor.
  • Provide safe, clean, and healthy environment for infants and preschool children.
  • Must be alert at all times with the ability to see any potential dangerous situations.

· Demonstrates positive and professional personal relations in dealing with children, members, and guests.

· Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with co-workers, managers/supervisors, and other members of the staff so as to promote efficiency and quality member care.

· Provides excellent customer service and adheres to the Behavioral Expectation Agreement.

· Attends mandatory staff meetings

· Provides daily care for pre-school children which includes:

-safe outdoor activities, weather permitting.

-safe indoor activities to keep children amused.

· Maintaining a service so that parent and child are satisfied.

· Keeps track of child reservations and is able to communicate effectively and professionally with the child’s parents.

May perform other duties as follows:

  • Washing toys.
  • Washing linens.
  • Checking and maintaining supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications [Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.]

Education: High School student 16 years of age or older.

Certifications/Licensure: CPR certification through American Heart Association: BLS or Heartsaver with AED or American Red Cross with AED.

Skills:

· Caring, nurturing, being alert and able to adapt quickly to changing situations, patience.

· Must be able to hear children in case of emergencies and smell for any potential dangerous situations.

Preferences [Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree)]

· Desired: Pass babysitting certification course.

· Experience: Prefer at least one year’s experience in childcare. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.

Exposure Categories:

· Category II: Expected duties have possible, but not routine, potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues

· Body waste from changing diapers.

Work Requirements [Optional section: work requirements for physical or other important issues which relate to the job]

· Must be able to lift children weighing 6-20lbs or more with much bending, stooping, and kneeling required.

· Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to see, hear, or smell for any potentially dangerous situations to the children. This could involve playground hazards, sharp toys, fire, smoke, and child’s cry for help.
