Job Description

Assist the Child Care teaching staff in the provision of quality custodial care for attending children, ensuring the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of children are met, and ensuring compliance with all state regulations and department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Department Operations

  • Assists with activities, encourages children involvement, and interacts with each child in a caring and supportive manner.
  • Assists in maintaining the routine of each child according to prescribed procedures, and attending to the physical and nurturing needs of each child on an individual basis, while teaching independence. Ensures smooth transition for child and parent at arrival and departure times.
  • Follows established department procedures to ensure consistent and positive child care techniques are followed.
  • Promotes integral learning, and helps to develop cooperation and supportive attitudes in the classrooms.
  • Assists the children in controlling behavior by using an appropriate positive approach.
  • Communicates problems and concerns to the Lead Teacher and/or Director.
  • Maintains good communication with parents and helps them feel at ease at the Child Care Center.
  • Contributes to monthly newsletter as requested.
  • Works directly with children and acts as a model.

Quality and Safety

  • Assists the teachers in creating a safe and secure environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing, and permits the child to grow, explore, and learn social skills.
  • Maintains a healthy environment by keeping the children clean and teaching and practicing good hygiene.
  • Follows set standards in food preparation and cleanup, and cleans and disinfects toys, furniture, and equipment on a routine basis.
  • Adheres to all state regulations and accepted practices and procedures of the Child Care Center.
  • Reports needed repairs to equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in early childhood setting preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

(BLS) Basic Life Support

Water Safety Training Certification
