REFOCUS is seeking a Child & Family Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team and support culturally safe, family-led planning for children and families.

This role focuses on assessment, direct family support, and delivering programs that strengthen parenting capacity and improve outcomes for children, young people, and families.

About the role

As a Child & Family Wellbeing Practitioner, you will:

Provide supervision and assessment of
family contact sessions in line with court directions

Assess parent-child interactions and ensure
child safety at all times

Prepare clear, accurate, and
evidence-informed reports

Deliver parenting programs and
interventions (e.g. Triple P, Circle of Security, DFV programs)

Support young people transitioning to
adulthood and developing independent living skills

Work directly with families to build
parenting capacity and daily living skills

Deliver one-to-one and group-based support
sessions

Provide education on child development,
attachment, and impacts of DFV/substance use

Link families with appropriate community
supports, services, and opportunities

Build strong, respectful relationships with
children, families, and carers

Maintain accurate documentation and case
records in line with REFOCUS standards

Pay
and conditions

Permanent part-time position

Hourly pay rates range from $35 to $52 per
hour (SCHADS Award MA000100)

Classification level and pay rate are assessed based on qualifications, experience, and capability

Strong commitment to child safety and
family-led practice

Ability to engage and build trust with
children, families, and carers

Experience delivering or supporting
parenting programs or family interventions

Confidence in assessment, observation, and
report writing

Strong organisational skills and ability to
manage varied service environments

Commitment to culturally safe and
trauma-informed practice

Qualifications and experience

Relevant qualification in Community
Services, Social Work, or related field (or working towards)

Minimum 2 years relevant experience or
equivalent capability

Experience working with Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander families is highly desirable

Experience in family support, child
wellbeing, or program facilitation is desirable

Additional requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Criminal history check
  • Ability to meet REFOCUS compliance and reporting requirements
  • Current Drivers Licence (minimum green P’s)
  • Ability to work within the 10 Child Safe Standards
